“From the beginning of creation he created them male [arsēn] and female [thēlys].18 On account of this a man leaves his father and mother. And the two become one flesh. So they no longer are two but one flesh. What God therefore has joined together let not humans separate.” And again in the house [oikia] his disciples asked him about this. And he said to them, “Whoever divorces his woman and marries another commits adultery against her. And if she divorces her man, she commits another adultery.” (10:1–12)
